You get the choices you need with BlueChoice 65 series of Medigap / Medicare supplement plans designed for seniors and disabled Medicare beneficiaries. Benefits that go where you go With Blue Cross Blue Shield of Louisiana you are covered in all 50 states. It's a name that is instantly recognized everywhere you go. So you will have no problems if your away from home and need medical treatment. BlueChoice 65 Select = Big Savings The BlueChoice 65 SELECT plans have lower premiums than the standard plans and a network of select hospitals where you do not have to pay the Part A deductible and coinsurance. Available plans are B, C, and F. You choose any doctor, and when you use a select hospital for inpatient services you do not pay any Part A deductible or coinsurance. The select facilities have agreed to reduce their cost so the savings will be passed on to you.
Remember you do not need a referral from a primary care physician to see a specialist like Managed Care (Part C) plans. You should check with your physician to see if he or she has admitting privileges to the select hospital you are considering. If you use a non-select hospital you will be responsible for all Part A deductibles and coinsurance (hospitalization from the 61st day through the 90th day in any Medicare benefit period, and the lifetime reserve days). All other charges however will be paid by Medicare. There are no restrictions (network) for outpatient services. With BlueChoice 65 SELECT you can choose almost any outpatient care facility.
Q. What's the advantage of choosing BlueChoice 65 SELECT? A. The premium is lower than with the standard plans. Blue Cross of Louisiana is able to reduce the premiums because the select hospitals have agreed to reduce certain cost, the savings are then passed on to you in the form of lower premiums. You are free to choose almost any physician and outpatient medical facilities. Q. Is there a difference between select and standard plans coverage? A. The coverage is the same in both plans, as long as you use the select hospitals for scheduled inpatient services. Q. Can I use any doctor? A. Yes, you can choose any physician that agrees to accept Medicare. And you do not need a referral to see a specialist. Keep in mind, however that your doctor needs to have admitting privileges to the select hospital if you are to be hospitalized. You should discuss this with your doctor prior to hospitalization. Q. What if my doctor is not affiliated with the select hospital? A. You should buy our standard plan or ask your doctor to apply for admitting privileges with the select hospital. Q. Will Medicare still pay if I use a non-network hospital? A. Yes, however you will be responsible for the deductible and coinsurance if any. Q. What if I need care that's not available at a select hospital? A. Blue Cross of Louisiana will cover your Part A deductible and coinsurance at the non-select facility. Q. What about outpatient services, are there any restrictions? A. No, only select hospitals for inpatient services. Q. What if I'm traveling and have an emergency medical situation? A.
